January OOC Post
Greetings, Travelers, and welcome to Stella Fortuna!
State of the World

For the first two weeks of the game, IC time will be looping from August 10th to August 16th. It's currently late summer in Mondstadt, and the trees are just beginning to turn out their autumn colours. The weather is cool and pleasant, with light showers on Tuesday (11th) and Friday (14th). It's also a good time to go out gathering berries and nature's bounty from Mondstadt's forests and valleys.

Our first group of characters will appear throughout Monday (10th) near the fountain in Market Square. NPCs will completely not notice the character’s arrival and treat them as if they had always been there. Even though nothing consequential seems to be happening in the city, characters should probably try to get used to their new life and using their Vision before things start to shake up a bit.

There will be no activity requirements for January, so all threads started during this time period can be used for regains!

The January IC log post will go up on our log community on January 18th. Till then, please use this post to plot with your fellow players.


Quests and Commissions

January will also be a test-run for our commissions system! For any feedback on the OOC and IC process of completing commissions, please let us know in the comment top-level below.

Commissions Listing

1. Books of Exotic Taste

Person: Charles Mingle, self-proclaimed distinguished novelist
Request: “I require help regarding a rare, one-of-kind, extremely popular book. Please only respond if you possess a significant amount of taste.”

Charles Mingle is a struggling writer determined to write a world-wide hit on the Mondstadt Distinguished Best-sellers List. He requires the help of a mind much more cultured (or uncultured?) than his, and will accept as many different plot ideas and samples as the characters can offer. You may choose to take his request for an all-ages novel, or an erotic novel. No explicit descriptions are necessary, this commission is mostly for the memes.

Reward: A medium amount of Mora, a personal dedication to your characters, and also a copy of the hopefully award-winning novel.


2. Food Delivery

Person: Sara, waitress at Good Hunter
Request: “Good Hunter has received a surge in orders lately! Please help us deliver the food to our customers!”

Characters will receive a request to deliver some piping-hot food to adventurers out in the wilderness! Some food will require special care during transport. Please don’t eat the rations, Sara will be unhappy.

Reward: A small amount of Mora and a hot meal. Mmm, steak.


3. Forging Ahead

Person: Wagner, the Mondstadt blacksmith
Request: “I’ve heard news about a rare blue ore popping up around Mondstadt. If I get a good supply of this ore, I might be able to forge something better than my previous work.”

Characters will need to go out and mine for Crystal Ore and Resonant Ore. They can be hacked at with pickaxes or claymores, or they can be retrieved by Geo Vision users. Or if you’re a Pyro with an Electro buddy, you can try… explosive mining. Note that being a Vision user doesn’t make you immune to friendly fire or collateral damage.

This commission is more difficult than the others and characters will probably have to face a lot of physical exertion.

Reward: A weapon!


4. Clutch Rescue

Person: Adeline, from Springvale
Request: “Several of my prize hens have gone missing! I’m so worried for my beautiful girls. Please look around and find out where they might have gone!”

Adeline’s hens are missing. She shut them in the coop a few days ago, but someone seems to have broken into the coop and taken a few hens. The remaining hens are all in various states of fright from the abduction attempt.

Characters will need to use Elemental Sight to track the Cryo marks on the coop into a nearby Domain. There will be a battle against an Abyss Mage who luckily only wanted eggs.

Reward: EGGS! And Adeline’s eternal gratitude.


5. Paranormal Activity

Person: Boris, from the Adventurers’ Guild

Request: “I’ve heard rumours of a green-coloured ghost wandering Mondstadt at night… Some say the ghost haunts the Whispering Woods and Windrise. Is it really true? Is anyone brave enough to look?”

This is an RNG commission! Please specify if you would like to thread out a combat or non-combat commission. Your character may encounter monsters, Seelies, a mysterious NPC, or all three.

Reward: ???

Accepting Commissions

The mods will not thread out most quests with players; instead players will receive a write-up of the quest process. After threading out the quest with their thread partner, the thread can then be submitted to the OOC post for their rewards.

For example:

➤ Players A and B wish to participate in a commission.
➤ Player A comments to the OOC post with the sign-up form and includes both their characters. The form will include how their characters will handle the commission request.
➤ Mods will then comment to the sign-up form with a text description of what their characters are likely to encounter while trying to fulfil the request.
➤ Players A and B then thread out their characters doing the commission.
➤ After the thread has achieved the commission’s objective, player A replies to the mod comment with the thread link.
➤ Mods will then comment to the thread link with the characters’ rewards.

Players are allowed to backtag the previous month’s commissions. However, threads of commissions from two months back cannot be turned in for rewards anymore.

Swapping

For players who joined us in our first app round will have the option to swap their ingame character for another if they feel that their current character is not a good fit for the setting. Players will not need to wait until our next app round to app in their replacement character. If you would like to utilize this option, please let us know at our mod contact post and we'll make the necessary arrangements.

Approach: mr. mingle is really scraping the bottle of the barrel, huh. or:

felix and seonho will start off by suggesting that this erotic novel—yeah, i said it—should feature some solid fight scenes? shouldn't all novels feature solid fight scenes? and that's all well and good; like a fight scene could go places, but then poor mr. mingle has to sit there and listen to felix and seonho seriously discuss swords for far too long. like, sword-swords.

but please know that discussing how to frame each fight scene will eventually give way to felix and seonho arguing about, like, which attacks work? which attacks do not? what do you mean my very cool character, do not steal, can't stab an enemy as they ride by on their swift steed?? clearly the other person just has no idea what they're talking about, so planning a sexy fight scene soon turns into felix's overpowered oc fighting seonho's overpowered oc, which then turns into felix and seonho sparring somewhere off to the side to prove their very good points. i guess mr. mingle can... use this as further inspiration??

Notes: can albedo walk by and sketch them mid-fight to use as the cover for this novel... he may take artistic liberties as he sees fit, of course...

Characters: Tsurumaru and Sylvain
Approach: After figuring out about Elemental Sight, Tsuru can help track down a chicken or two. Sylvain tries to woo a chicken off a roof before just deciding to lift Tsuru on his shoulders to get it. Tsurumaru "Actual Birdkin" Kuninaga names it Momo-chan and they're like, "Wow, how did you get out here?" And I guess they'll run into the Abyss Mage and fight it off. They're both pretty competent fighters so we don't really foresee any difficulties once they figure out what they're up against? Also Tsuru is naming at least one other chicken... Chi-kun.

Approach: both sylvain and felix like "lol it's just mining how hard can it be", except neither of them have the geo vision and don't use claymores. sylvain, however, will at least try and see about borrowing a pickaxe or two before they head out, so there's that?? but otherwise... rip to both of them.

Approach: Jun and Tio would probably have middling success. While they'd take the quest seriously enough to try to fulfill the requirements and not eat the food, neither are highly socially adept or overachievers with stuff like this.

Approach: So Jun, being Jun, would likely try to spin a yarn about some ghost story that may or may not be true. He'd frame it as one of those unsolved mysteries that you read about online. Ed meanwhile will try his best to spin it to more of a fun adventure tale, add more explosions! So it'll be a mix of genres.

Approach: At long last a competent team! Jun is a geo so he plans to throw rocks at the ore until they break, and then Pieck is going to use her titan form to haul lots of ore back. THEY'LL BE RICH. RICH!!!

Approach: Both of them are skilled at investigating paranormal incidents as well as fighting! Jun will be sticking to archery while Ledah plans to get up close and personal. So combat is a-okay and they will likely do alright depending on things.

Approach: Jun truly lucked out by having these two ye olde magic newbies in his party!!! aka he'll have his Geo Vision to help break rocks to find ore, and Seonho and Hwi really only have their muscles to rely on as they use pickaxes. they're both pretty strong tho and also Hwi's a blacksmith so u know he's ripped, which means maybe they'll do okay and find some ore too in the process? we believe in them!

Approach: Both of them are skilled with fighting so combat is fine. Neither of them will go into this looking for a fight but they'll be prepared and ready just in case. They're both curious about what they'll stumble onto.

Approach: Akira will approach the assignment warily while Tsurumaru is just here to have a good time. It'll be a nice mix of cautious and open-minded. Akira has a knife and grappling hook gun and Tsuru has his sword so they're both armed and comfortable fighting.

Approach: They'll go deliver food out to a customer in the middle of a lake. While Anastasia tries to figure out how to get out into the lake, Tsurumaru will be chilling (hah) and watching her work. He'll play around with his Cryo Vision and make a little ice flow or something. Anastasia screams at him for having a useful power the entire time and Tsurumaru laughs because he's a hecking troll. She'll deliver the food on ice and yeet the delivery at the customer.

Approach: Tsurumaru is going to bully Seonho into coming up with a story and be difficult about it the entire time… until he eventually gets bored and pulls out some fairy tale/folktale-esque story from his 1000 year spirit memory reserves and makes Seonho write it down. The story will have a vague, not-happy but not-sad ending.

Characters: Sylvain and Seonho... The Double S's....
Approach: The phrase "beautiful girls" immediately catches Sylvain's attention, no -- Sylvain and Seonho decide that this quest should be easy, and they go off to find these lovely hens. Maybe Sylvain is better now because he's done this quest already, so he will successfully capture a few hens along with Seonho who is probably useless, but he's willing to learn? He can hold a chicken?? They will catch chickens, and they will go feral against this poor abyss mage who only wanted eggs. (Seonho will know Elemental Sight bc he'll ask Zhongli for help, if that's allowed, im in tears)

Characters: Celine, Elliot Craig, Rean Schwarzer, Tio Plato
Approach: PATHETICALLY REALLY. 3/4 of these people are squishy mages so physical labor is out. And with their combined visions of Ameno, Electro, Hydro and Cryo ... well they're more likely to electrocute themselves than actually get any ore.

Basically unless a miracle happens, the most they'll be able to get is what small amount Rean can mine while the others make sad attempts to help. Or really Tio and Elliot will try, Celine will probably stand by and just give "encouragement".
Notes: Honestly any additional bad luck that's funny would be great.

Characters: Lucas, Hwi, Seonho
Approach: Hwi and Seonho are of the opinion that ghosts aren't real, but Lucas is interested in the rumors, so together they'll make an okay-ish group exploring the Whispering Wood. if the ghost/rumors look hostile, then Seonho and Hwi would def opt for fighting, otherwise Lucas has the brains of this operation and he's the one most familiar with spirits/magic, but also he's fine with fighting too? combat option is a-okay!
Notes: lucas will prob be the best vision user among them, hwi and seonho will be mostly physical fighters here

Approach: HAHA...without access to cheat skills, Zhongli will be a bit more on the slow side, and Xiao will be - well, exactly as much on the rude side as he would otherwise be. He'll probably get irritated if they fail any sort of time limit or jostle the food so they have to start over and get more and more pressed about it, while Zhongli will presumably be a bit more chill about things...I have faith in them (eventually) managing to doordash one meal though...

Approach: Xiao is pretty good at climbing and running such so catching the chickens between the two of them should be easy enough...though he'll be most comfortable with the battle portion. Ana is 100% going to chuck a chicken at the mage, oops.

Approach: Ledah will handle the standard pickaxe routine because that'd be easier for him to use. There's his Diviner but really, why would he use that for rocks?

Approach: ...Ledah will ultimately give it his all, though he'd end up going for something adventure; something Seonho agrees to as well. However, he ends up being a bit 'too much' in describing details and some such.

Naturally Seonho helps with the editing to curb down the ongoing purple prose and ridiculous descriptors and such things. Someone's gotta be there to make things more precise and probably prevent it from being too cynical...
